John Lake, the CEO of Black Hawk Investigations, LLC, is solutions-based and results oriented in his focus of security and investigations. He has the ability to find solutions to problems affecting businesses, families and the legal community by approaching each problem from multiple perspectives and disciplines. With over 30 years experience in federal law enforcement, security and executive protection, each assignment is addressed with careful planning, analysis, and execution. His experience in law enforcement, corporate security, and executive protection provides the leadership and direction needed to obtain time critical information and intelligence, and reduced risk for our clients.
John obtained his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Albuquerque, and his Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico, with emphasis on finance and public policy. John also received a Masters Degree from the University of Denver in Applied Communication with a focus on conflict resolution.
John completed his service in the United States Air Force as a military policeman in 1980. After military service, John served as a Special Agent, for the United States Department of Energy, Office of Inspector General, Criminal Investigations Division. John worked on criminal, civil, fraud, and corruption investigations. John later served as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent with the Department of Defense, Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS). John led numerous major criminal investigations involving, contract fraud, health care fraud, corruption and national security matters. John served on numerous investigative task forces throughout his career with other major federal and state law enforcement agencies to include the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), US Postal Inspection Service, National Security Investigative Organizations and Offices of the States Attorney General to investigate matters of joint interest. In October 2007 John received the President’s Council Award on Integrity and Efficiency for his work as a supervisor on the Department of Defense, Contract Fraud Task Force. John retired that year and began work as a Private Investigator in Virginia and Maryland in 2009. He later established Black Hawk Investigations in 2012.
